Podczas wyborów prezydenckich na Białorusi w sierpniu 2020 roku troje aktorów z podziemnego Białoruskiego Wolnego Teatru w Mińsku: Maryna, Pavel i Denis angażuje się w masowe protesty przeciwników Aleksandra Łukaszenki. Wyruszają na ulice Mińska, aby stanąć w obronie wolności słowa i poprzeć długo oczekiwaną zmianę władzy. Nieposłuszeństwo obywatelskie staje się niczym imperatyw moralny. Głos ludu zostaje jednak brutalnie zmiażdżony przez aparat bezpieczeństwa białoruskiego reżimu. Członkowie grupy teatralnej zostają aresztowani. Kraj stoi na krawędzi wojny domowej. Film dokumentuje odważny, pokojowy opór Maryny, Pawła i Denisa przed i w trakcie protestów, portretując tym samym dzisiejszą Białoruś. Pokazuje też, jak w czasach kryzysu działa teatr, który wystawia sztuki broniące wolności, w tym powtórną inscenizację „Discover Love” z 2008 roku, opartą na porwaniu i zamordowaniu przez wysłanników władzy działacza białoruskiej opozycji Anatolija Krasowskiego w 1999 roku. Ten filmowy obraz kraju na rozdrożu pomaga zrozumieć, dlaczego opór i protesty przeciwko autorytarnemu reżimowi Łukaszenki stały się dla tak wielu osób ważniejsze niż życie.

During the presidential elections in Belarus, three actors from an underground theatre in Minsk are caught up in the wake of mass protests. It draws them onto the open streets of Minsk to protest for freedom of speech and the long-awaited change of power. But the people's voice is brutally crushed by the regime's security apparatus. Members of the theatre group are arrested. The country is on the brink of civil war. ”Courage” accompanies the brave and peaceful resistance of Maryna, Pavel and Denis before and during the protests and offers a personal and deep insight into the Belarus of today.
